Identity Theft is a crime. The thief uses your name, steals your social security number, your bank account or PIN number, your ATM or credit card number. The result is monetary loss and possibly the ruin of your good name and good credit rating.

Here are some tips:
• Don’t carry more personal information (credit cards, etc.) than you need
     to when shopping or traveling;
• Don’t give out personal information to people you don’t know, especially
     on the phone (e.g., telemarketers);
• Be careful what you throw away—thieves will go through your trash
      looking for personal info;

• Be aware—know, as soon as possible, when
      your identity may have been stolen and
      report it to the police.
